Have you ever gone to the gym but mentally you weren’t there and felt you didn’t get the best workout? I’ve certainly done this where I left feeling like I didn’t accomplish much. The last thing you want to feel is that you didn’t work hard enough to reach your goals whether it be for the beach, an event, or just for yourself. With all the distractions that we face today, it’s easy to do. So lets go over some tips on helping you get the most of your workouts.
1.) Don’t bring your phone- ok ok so maybe you use your phone for music but that’s ok. Silence your phone if you need to bring it. Often times I get distracted by text messages, emails, and/or notifications from social media which then causes me to lose more time. Unless I’m purposely bringing it to watch YouTube videos (guilty), then it doesn’t come with me.
2.) Try a fitness class- On days that I’m not really feeling like working out, I love taking a class. I get laser focused and have no distractions this way, plus I don’t bring my phone for music. This is a great alternative to having a personal trainer because you have an instructor pushing you past your comfort zone and harder than you probably would.
3.) Invest in a personal trainer- Anytime I have hired a personal trainer, it’s helped me stick to it and really push myself. When you’re actually paying someone, you do it because you don’t want your money to go to waste. Your trainer should have all your workouts planned out for you so really all you have to bring with you is water and a towel.
4.) Work out with a friend that works out harder than you- Make sure this is a friend that stays focused and is not there for girl chat. I personally like working out by myself or with someone that trains harder than me. If I’m not pushing myself, I’d rather someone else push me. This way the gym doesn’t end up being a chat session and it’s all about making it count.
The next time you go to the gym or are working out, give these a try. I’d love to hear from you if it helped.
